How The Design Process Works

Design Process Stages

  • 1. Interview

This initial phase of the project is where we find out more about you and your design ambitions and discuss timelines and budget. We'll work with you to build a detailed brief and identify your design preferences.

  • 2. Concept

Concept Design is the beginning of the creative process. After completing a site survey, we'll develop architectural layouts for your space and begin to research finishes, design styles and influences as discussed in the interview. We'll create 2D plans and early 3D models and renderings helping to visualize the volumetric aspects of the design.

  • 3. Development

The Design Development stage is where we get into the detail of the scheme. We'll refine the internal layouts and specify key finishes and materials for the floors, walls, millwork and furnishings, while we define the lighting concepts and other fixture and equipment requirements for final sign off.

  • 4. Technical

With the final design approved, we move onto the Technical Design stage preparing a coordinated, fully-detailed, technical construction pack for the project, including demolition plans, refurbs and all the proposed new details for the build.

  • 5. Production

With the technical details completed, next we will develop fully detailed finishes schedules and FF&E specifications for every area in the property, designing out millwork, plumbing, HVAC and electrical requirements to deliver to the contractor.

  • 6. Coordination

Once the contractor is appointed, we'll review the design proposals with them in detail and advise on any specialist sub-contracted elements of the project, assisting them in mobilizing resources as required.

  • 7. Construction

While the project is underway we will work closely with the contractors and vendors to achieve the successful implementation of our design, along with the procurement and installation of all the associated FF&E.

  • 8. Completion

As the project concludes, we will conduct an inspection of the quality of completed work and compile a punch list to resolve any defects, if needed, in preparation for the final walk through to handover and conclude the project.
